Ventilation valve now with free area of 5000mm2

Specialist Danish valve manufacturer XTP Design has revised the award wining XTP2000 fresh air ventilation valve especially for the UK market.
The valve now has a free area of 5000mm2, making it compliant with Part F of the UK Building Regulations.
It is available through the company's website: xtpdesign.com.
The change follows the valve's launch in January 2007 which has resulted in massive interest in the new product.
"The XTP2000 has been very well received in both the UK and Denmark" commented valve designer and XTP Design managing director Torben Pryning.
"The XTP2000 was awarded Demarks' leading industrial design prize, 'ID Prisen' on its domestic launch by the Danish Design Centre and I am delighted that the UK is now seeing the benefits of a well designed, functional and necessary product" he added.
Existing UK applications for the XTP2000 include office buildings and domestic homes.
Traditional ventilation valves are prone to condensation on their metal parts, due to the cold outside air meeting the warm air inside the building.
As a result they can become mould traps.
Additionally, in really cold weather, the spring can loose its elasticity, causing the valve to fail.
A pipe in the wall that only closes on the inside does not insulate the outside hole, which is important in winter, and sealing the valve at both ends can cause a tight plug which stops airflow and causes mould inside the building.
The XTP2000 is not prone to this problem.
The working part of the valve consists of modular plastic sections to fit any wall thickness with a small springy stringlock (similar to the type often used on anoraks) at the centre of the inner pipe to keep the separate sections together.
Moving the inner pipe exposes ventilation slits and allows airflow.
The XTP2000's external components are available in either anodized or matt aluminium or copper, toned to suit the building design.
The outer cap of the valve can either be extended from a buildings' exterior walls as a design feature or fitted flush with the wall surface.
All XTP valves are available with storm proofing, pollen filters and heat and sound insulation.
The filtration and insulation options can be supplied with the valve or quickly and simply retrofitted without the use of tools.
