The roof area of Haybridge High School and Sixth Form refurbished and brought up to current building regulations.

The roof area of Haybridge High School and Sixth Form in the village of Hagley, Worcestershire has recently been refurbished and brought up to current building regulations by Worcestershire County Council.

The original roof was leaking and the old Georgian wired rooflights have now been replaced by 64 bespoke domed security rooflights supplied by Xtralite (Rooflights) Ltd.

Xtralite's Protectolite rooflights were specified for their high anti vandal features.

They also carry full BBA Certification and a 20 year insurance backed guarantee.

Area Manager Barry Appleby said "Protectolite rooflights are ideal for locations which may be susceptible to breaks ins and vandalism.

The continuous aluminium security frame is pretty impenetrable and would give potential burglars a real headache trying to remove it.

It would need a lot of effort and take a long time.

They'd probably give up and look for an alternative route!"Although this installation specified domes, pyramid Protectolites are even more vandal-proof as they are extremely hard to stand or jump upon.

Xtralite are supplying 33 of these for another Worcestershire County Council project at St George's Roman Catholic Primary School in Worcester.

The beauty of the Protectolite rooflight is that although it's very tough it is still aesthetically pleasing.

The white security frame finishes off the rooflight rather than leaving nuts and bolts exposed.

So even over large areas the completed project does not look unsightly or ugly.

Diffused, UV protected polycarbonate glazing was specified as it allows better transmission of daylight which means a lighter, brighter and healthier study environment for the students working below.

Six rooflights located above offices and IT classrooms were glazed in an opal finish to reduce glare and sunlight filtering through onto the computer screens below.

As with many school projects the work was completed during the summer break when staff and students were off site.
