Yeoman Shield expertise in the 'home of golf'
New door protection supplied by Yeoman Shield has given the battered doors a new lease of life at St Andrews Bay Hotel.
Nestled in the rugged coastal landscape of St Andrews, the St Andrews Bay Hotel is a 5 star hotel which opened its doors to customers in June 2001.
Part of the Chateau Elan Hotel group, the resort offers a modern and world class complex with two championship golf courses and fantastic views of St Andrews and the Fife coastline.
Costing an estimated GBP50million to build, the hotel brings an international standard of service to those visiting St.
Andrews, the famous 'home of golf'.
Featuring 209 guestrooms, two restaurants, a health club complete with a European style spa and heated indoor swimming pool, the hotel is a popular year round resort.
The basement of the hotel is the maintenance hub of the building, housing the kitchen, cleaning and laundry facilities for the complex.
The area is constantly in use to support the large numbers of guests at the resort, both those who stay overnight as well as day visitors to the golf courses and spa.
As a result, many of the doors in the area had fallen into a poor state of repair, becoming worn and cracked after months of trolley use around the hotel.
Yeoman Shield was called in to see if anything could be done save the doors, in order to help the hotel avoid a costly replacement exercise.
Following a site visit to assess the damage, Yeoman Shield supplied specially made door edge protectors and cut to size 2mm door protection panels which could be easily installed by the hotel's in house maintenance team.
"St Andrews Bay Hotel is a remarkable location and, even though away from prying eyes of the visitors, it was still a primary concern to bring the basement area back up to scratch," says Lloyd Lawson, area sales manager at Yeoman Shield.
"Supporting a hotel of this size is an enormous undertaking and with a great deal of activity in this area, damage was bound to occur".
"Yeoman Shield has a lot of experience in the leisure industry and we were able to provide an effective offering that would limit door damage in the future".
Nick Horne, facilities manager at the hotel comments, "The new door protection supplied by Yeoman Shield has given the battered doors a new lease of life and has done so without compromising on the fire integrity of the doors".
"Plus, it cost us a fraction of the price of replacing the doors with new ones so we are delighted with the result.".
