Developer, Seddon Homes, has moved to address the demands of the growing over 55s population with a visionary new apartments' development in Stretford.

It is the Warrington-based company's first initiative in an increasingly significant market sector, and it is believed to be the first new development of its kind in the area for 20 years.

Seddon Homes sales and marketing director, Denis Maddock, said the development, The Bowling Green 55, was an important step forward at a time when experts are predicting key demographic changes throughout Britain.

"It's vital developers look to the future to provide high end facilities meeting the demands of the over 55s".

"They now account for more than a quarter of the population, a figure predicted to grow to a third over coming years".

"As one of the region's most established developers Seddon has been quick to recognise this is a sophisticated sector of the market with very specific needs".

From The Bowling Green's conception Seddon Homes determined to adhere to a high-spec design, drawn up following extensive research".

"Denis added: "We listened carefully to what potential buyers had to say.

They want sensibly priced, quality, stylish homes with modern facilities, but without the worries associated with a larger property".

"The Bowling Green meets those needs and sets a new benchmark".

"These are among the most reasonably priced properties of their kind".

"Potential buyers will have modern facilities, a secure environment, plus their own dedicated secure parking place included in the price".

The architecturally-striking development of 23 contemporary two bedroom apartments is packed with green credentials, offering an added financial incentive for local residents looking to scale down from more costly family-sized properties.

The main building's high insulation has helped it to secure a high energy efficiency rating, well above that of the average UK home.

Using Energy Performance Certificate standard calculations, running costs for heating, lighting and hot water work out at about GBP25 a month, expected to be a key enticement among buyers.

The development is strategically located on Moss Road, with a good selection of convenience stores close by whilst also being just a short drive from The Trafford Centre and Lancashire County Cricket Ground.

Three miles from Manchester centre near the A56 arterial link road, it is next to a bowling green and the nearby Metro's Sports and Social Club, for whom Seddon has also built a state-of-the-art new clubhouse, Prices start from GBP149,950.
