Class 1 status for D-rung ladders

A Zarges (UK) product story
Edited by the Buildingtalk editorial team Jun 20, 2005

Zarges UK's new D-rung extension ladders have been awarded BS 2037: 1994 Class 1, carry the British Standard Kitemark and have passed the European quality standard EN131.

Zarges UK's new D-rung extension ladders have been awarded the highest class of British standard, BS 2037: 1994 Class 1, carry the British Standard Kitemark and have passed the exacting tests necessary for European quality standard EN131.

All extension ladders from Zarges come with rung locks, a requirement of the Work at Height 2005 regulations.

This is not a new feature; the company previously included this safety design as a standard fitting.

The sliding rung locking mechanism prevents the different parts of the ladder slipping or separating while in use or when being carried.

"The new regulations mean that all manufacturers must now fit rung-locks, but that's something Zarges has been doing for over 20 years".

"Our D-rung extension ladders not only pass EN131 but the Class 1 standard as well".

"Zarges always puts safety first," said Alistair Twigg of Zarges.

D-rung ladders are particularly comfortable to use and when inclined provide a flat and increased rung width while the 'D' section ensures maximum strength.

Two part aluminium D-rung ladders are available in 8 to 16 rungs and the three part version in 8 to 14 rungs.
