Lighting design for Associated Architects offices

Architectural lighting provided by Modular Lighting Instruments and LTS Lighting and Luminaires at new offices for Associated Architects at The Mailbox, Birmingham.

The new office provides a main studio and three meeting spaces; a formal conference room, a working meeting room and a mezzanine space with a library.

To create a visually striking lighting scheme, director of Associated Architects Matthew Goer specified a wide array of products from Modular Lighting Instruments and LTS Lighting and Luminaires.

"Linear runs of lighting profiles 2FLAT2C, SL149 in extruded aluminium and Cupid in a polycarbonate extrusion from Modular Lighting Instruments were installed to respond to the scale and rhythm of the existing steel beams," explained Matthew Goer.

"The Artemide Mouette light fittings, also from Modular UK, served to connect the reception space through to the breakout area at the rear of the studio space and help to define a zone for breakout and flexible working".

"They also provided a refreshing contrast with the orthogonal fittings".

The Light Channel system from LTS Light and Luminaires was also installed in the reception, circulation spaces and in one of the meeting rooms as it was in keeping with the sleek and modern lines of the space.

The stylish luminaire provides symmetrical light distribution and offers easy relamping via a removable acrylic cover.

In the galley kitchen, Piazza downlights from LTS Light and Luminaires were installed.

The rectangular shape with stainless steel trim and soft illumination make Piazza an ideal solution for ambient lighting.

Other products featured in the office include Downut, Lotis and Trimless Multiples from Modular Lighting Instruments and CSA Downlights and Belfloor recessed fittings from LTS Light and Luminaires.
