Constructing the facility’s roofs

Richmond Roofing, for main contractor Farrans installed almost 7000m2 of Protan SE1.8mm single ply, mechanically fixed over a vapour control layer.

Managing director of Richmond Roofing Lawrence Miller: “The client wanted single ply, with a 30 year guarantee. Protan was the most competitive solution capable of delivering the assured longevity, quality and performance needed.”

Excellent BREEAM rating for hospital

On the site of the former Walton Hospital, Clock View is one of a series of new mental health units purpose-designed to provide light and airy spaces to help deliver effective and efficient care & treatment. In addition to individual bedrooms, the centre includes learning and education spaces, a café, therapy/activity spaces, a gymnasium and office accommodation.

Mersey Care NHS Trust, under its TIME (To Improve Mental Health Environments) scheme, won a national BREEAM award for Phase I for its programme to provide new mental health facilities including Clock View which is also set to attain an Excellent BREEAM rating.
