Saint-Gobain responds to Energy Bill Revolution’s report

  • 5 Nov 2014

The EBR calls for low income homes to be brought up to Band C on an Energy Performance Certificate by 2025 through energy efficient measures, and would like all other households to be offered 0% interest loans to improve their EPC standards by 2025 as part of a major infrastructure investment programme.

UK lags behind EU countries for energy efficiency

Advocacy Leader for Saint-Gobain, Jade Lewis, described the report as ‘a positive approach to improving the UK’s housing stock, which is one of the poorest in Europe in terms of energy efficiency.’

As buildings are responsible for almost 37% of all UK carbon emissions, the report highlights how important it is that the figures are reduced nationwide.

The report carried out is the first of its kind to assess the fiscal impacts of such an ambitious retrofit programme and how it can provide a long term solution to fuel poverty for the millions of struggling homeowners.

Jade Lewis, said: ñMuch more needs to be done to simplify and incentivise the uptake of energy efficient retrofit measures if we are to reduce emissions from the built environment, meet our UK carbon reduction targets and tackle fuel poverty.î
