Abloy UK promote green security message

Solenoid locks, like the Abloy EL560 solenoid lock, Abloy EL520 motorised lock
Abloy UK champion the use of electric locks over door magnets to save energy and reduce emissions.
Unlike electric locks, door magnets require an electric current to lock the door.
This current then breaks with the use of a request to exit button, cutting the lock’s magnetic hold and allowing the door to be opened.
In contrast, a motorised or solenoid lock only uses power to open the door.
As doors are closed for the majority of the time, it is here that energy can be saved.
A popular exhibitor at this year’s Ecobuild exhibition, Abloy UK offers seminars on the benefits of electric locking, while a Foundations course on standards and legislation, and practical workshops on installing electric locks, can be found at the Abloy Academy.
Jon Burke, Marketing Manager for Abloy UK, said: ’Raising awareness of the benefits of electric locks is a key message for us as we look to provide solutions that can help businesses not only secure their property, but also conform to any green agenda.
’Reducing a carbon footprint, combined with the potential energy cost savings, mean that electric locks are rapidly becoming the preferred solution for many companies.
’Aside from the environmental benefits, some electric locks also offer a superior level of security, which can be essential in certain applications’.
Solenoid locks, like the Abloy EL560, work by controlling either the latch or the handle, and are suitable for internal doors of public buildings, offices, schools or hospitals, and external doors of apartments and detached houses.
Motorised locks, like the Abloy EL520, work by motorising the bolt back once a proximity card is presented or a request to exit device is used.
