Aico ensures fire safety for Shropshire HMOs
Aico’s RadioLINK wireless interconnect fire detection systems
Aico’s RadioLINK wireless interconnect fire detection systems have been installed in HMOs (houses in multiple occupation) and smaller blocks of flats for Shropshire Housing Group.
Shropshire Housing Group made the decision to install the Aico systems to allow for alarm interconnection between communal areas and individual dwellings.
The decision to extend coverage to communal areas followed a detailed Risk Assessment carried out by the housing association across its 5000 properties.
RadioLINK works by allowing Aico mains powered Smoke, Heat and Multi-Sensor alarms to be wirelessly interconnected by Radio Frequency (RF) signals, rather than cabling.
To provide the earliest possible warning of a fire to occupants, if one alarm on the system is triggered, RF signals cause every other alarm on that system to sound..
For the Shropshire Housing Group’s properties, an Aico mains powered heat alarm is being fitted just inside each flat, wirelessly interconnected to an Aico Ionisation alarm in the communal area using RadioLINK.
The Heat Alarm will only trigger at 58°C and above, so it will not be triggered by normal cooking fumes.
Case study looks at the rolling programme to install Aico mains powered Carbon Monoxide (CO) alarms throughout Plymouth Community Homes properties. CO alarm features Aico RadioLINK Professional wireless interconnection technology, enabling the alarms to be added to the existing Aico smoke alarm systems already fitted.
In 2010 Swansea City Council chose Aico as the sole supplier of mains powered Multi-Sensor Fire alarms, Optical smoke alarms and CO alarms for its housing stock comprising of 14,000 properties. To date 9,000 homes have been fitted with Smoke and CO alarms with the council reporting reductions in false alarms and minimal failure rates. CO detectors have been linked to Multi Sensor detectors across all homes irrespective of the fuel source.
West Lancashire Borough Council install Aico mains powered RadioLINK systems into blocks of flats, providing alarm interconnection between communal areas and individual apartments.
Aico is installing its mains powered RadioLINK smoke and heat alarms and CO alarms at Curo Housing Group’s HMOs in Bath.
Aico RadioLINK wireless interconnect fire detection system has been installed as part of a major refurbishment of 104 apartments at Morshead Mansions in Maida Vale, London.
