Quaker Chemical offers UV curable floor coatings

Quaker Chemical

Rapidshield UV curable coating system

Quaker Chemical has provided a fast cure floor coating system for the renovation of a workshop floor.

Revs Motorsport in The Netherlands was expanding and taking over an adjacent building, converting it into a fully equipped workshop.

The existing concrete floor was uneven and covered in cracks, pits and flaking paint.

Quakers Flooring Division was specified to coat the floor with the Rapidshield UV curable coating system, offering reduced installation times compared to traditional resin flooring systems.

Rapidshield was applied to a prepared, clean floor, and cured instantly by a portable UV light unit, turning the coating into a solid film providing a strong bond to the substrate.

A chemical resistant gloss or matt finish is then produced.

The fast cure ability of the system ensures the floor can be used again within minutes.

Two coats of Rapidshield clear, high build sealer/primer were applied.

Two coats were necessary due to the condition of the concrete.

These coats were then followed by the chosen pewter grey colour, all the coats being instantly cured with the Quaker UV equipment.

Special floor masks were laid down and Rapidshield in red and black was applied to create the Revs Motorsport's logo within the floor system.

A clear top coat incorporating a mild slip resistant additive was applied to provide a safe and secure surface underfoot, and to embed the logo within the floor.
