Space to Change innovates away-from-home accessible toileting

  • 18 May 2016

Clos-o-Mat has published advisory guidance on the specification of Space to Change, a new concept in ‘away-from-home’ accessible toileting.

The Space to Change concept has been developed to enable public venues with restricted space or financial limitations to provide changing and lifting facilities for disabled citizens.

It builds on the Document M-type wheelchair-accessible toilet, which should be provided as standard in all community spaces.

The provision of Space to Change

Entitled ‘Considerations in the Provision of Space to Change Wheelchair Accessible Toilets’, Clos-o-Mat’s new white paper has been developed to explain how the new toileting facility sits between wheelchair-accessible toilets and Changing Places washrooms within current legislation.

The document covers the technical requirements and rationale behind Space to Change. It details its relevance to Building Regulations Approved Document M, BS8300:2009, the Equality Act and the Department of Health Building Note 00-02.

The white paper is available for download via Clos-o-Mat’s website; the company also hosts CAD blocks, layouts and technical data for all existing ‘away from home’ toilet facilities.
