Designed by Glenn Howells Architects, the new Gloucester Services blends into the rolling Cotswold landscape; close attention has been paid to preserving the views from the surrounding area, as well as minimising the environmental impact of the development.
Initiated by a local charity, Gloucestershire Gateway Trust, the project was built using materials from local businesses. It officially opened in 2015.
The development has earned a place on the 2016 RIBA National Awards List, among 45 other UK buildings.
Receiving RIBA recognition for its aesthetic and sustainable contribution to architecture, the Gloucester Services has been dubbed a ‘testament to what can be achieved through collaboration.’
ASSA ABLOY UK Specification, which supplied a comprehensive specification to the project, commended the development for supporting local businesses whilst maintaining and balancing aesthetics and sustainability.
