A selection of UZIN products have been specified by Olivers Contracts to install luxury vinyl tiles at Islington Customer Centre and resolve issues with the subfloor.
Tasked with the job of replacing 900m2 of contaminated and worn flooring. A floor covering had not been present for several years and instead the subfloor had been coated with a form of seal and paint.
General foot traffic had caused the flooring to crack and appear soft and unstable – indicating a weak latex based smoothing compound had been installed previously. Small areas across the floor had also been patched, suggesting previous failures in those areas.
A further problem was presented to Olivers Contracts as luxury vinyl tiles needed to be installed within open and expansive areas, containing large windows which subjected the flooring to considerable amounts of natural light and heat.
On top of this, the area was subject to heavy footfall, meaning the installation system needed to be strong, even though it would be applied over a soft latex subfloor.
Olivers decided it would resolve the issues with the subfloor, whilst ensuring the subsequent installation of the new floor covering was protected. To achieve this, a UZIN system was specified.
The system comprised:
The project took a total of 4 weekends to complete, as planned, without complication. The client responded positively to the works, saying: “I am very pleased with the quality and appearance of the finished flooring and with the performance of Olivers Contracts in laying it.”
