WWII bunker turns holiday home thanks to Alumasc Blackdown protection

  • 7 Feb 2018

Alumasc Blackdown has helped provide protection for a holiday home, formerly a World War Two bunker, thanks to its Green Roof solution.

Monmouthshire’s ‘Decoy Bunker’ has now been completely restored; now a unique holiday home, the green roof waterproofing solution helps it blend seamlessly into the hillside and offers complete protection from water travelling down from the surrounding landscape.

Blackdown Greenroof Drainage Layers, Intensive Substrate and Washed Pebble Ballast were all installed to finish the green roof.

Derbigum waterproofing membranes were also used; a system holding a 40 year durability certification with the BBA (British Board of Agrément).

Derbigum Black Anti-Root Built-Up System featured, which sits below the green roof to provide a hugely reliable waterproofing solution; ensuring future peace of mind .

The installation was carried out to a high standard by Alumasc’s Registered Contractors Span Roofing.
