Blackdown‘s NatureMat has been utilised as part of the development of a new Sports Hall for students in South Glamorgan.
The Moondance Sports Hall will enable students of the college to improve their health, fitness and wellbeing.
The building required an environmentally beneficial roofing system. 1,500m2 of Hydrotech Hot Melt Waterproofing Blackdown Green Roof NatureMat, a vegetated mat consisting of a biodegradable base layer, a specially formulated substrate layer and a 90% mature plant cover – all of which have been grown to maturity in Blackdown’s own fields in Somerset.
NatureMat helps clean the air from surrounding pollution and provides quality acoustic and thermal properties for the Sports Hall. In addition, the system absorbs the high levels of rain that are common in Glamorgan.
