Delta Membrane Systems Limited is working hard to increase the representation of females within the waterproofing sector by supporting the Women of Waterproofing Networking Group and inspiring women.
The Women of Waterproofing is an independent networking group for females working in the waterproofing and construction industry. The group aims to increase the number and diversity of women in all roles within the sector.
The Women of Waterproofing Networking Group would sincerely like to thank Safeguard Europe Limited, like minded manufacturers, for sponsoring its luncheon, held on June 14th 2019 in Covent Garden.
Thanks to Safeguard’s generous sponsorship, the group was able to raise awareness among budding waterproofing professionals. Hot topics of the luncheon were ‘balancing motherhood and a career’, ‘how to attract more members to the women of waterproofing networking group’ and what is ‘diversity and inclusion’.
The ladies agreed, promoting and supporting diversity in the workplace is about valuing everyone in the organisation as an
individual and to reap the benefits of a diverse workforce it’s vital to have an inclusive environment where everyone feels able to participate and achieve their potential. While UK legislation covers age, disability, race, religion, gender and sexual orientation (among others) – it only sets a minimum standard, an effective diversity and inclusion strategy goes beyond legal compliance and seeks to add value to an organisation, by contributing to employee well-being and engagement.
The group explained: “It was acknowledged that it’s not always easy to maintain a productive work environment and keep operations running smoothly. Our bosses (just like us) go above and beyond. So, a big thank you to our bosses, especially Delta Membranes! Not only have you allowed us time off to attend our networking lunches, you have also supported us in building this and in building a better future for women in our sector.”
The ladies also discussed timeframes for meetings. It was agreed that semi-annual meetings would be beneficial to the group at present and the next Women of Waterproofing Networking Group Luncheon was set for January 2020.
