Announced by Sheikh Mohamed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of UAE, the Al Jalila Childrens Speciality Hospital is a state-of-the-art project that will provide tertiary and quaternary specialised paediatric health services.
Construction of the childrens hospital was completed this year, and GEZE was selected to provide a full solution for the hospitals automated and manually controlled doors.
All hospital entrances have been equipped with a GEZE Slimdrive SLNT drive, designed to be visually appealing whilst ensuring complete control and safety in the case of an emergency.
The drive features a discreet 7cm operator installed on the aluminium transom and is connected to the main building management system.
The GEZE Powerdrive PL was selected to operate the heavy sliding door leafs. The product features a carrying capacity of 200 KG/leaf and the ability to smoothly move the door for a wide, clear opening passage.
The automatic swing doors inside the hospital building used the GEZE Slimdrive EMDF system, which also offered a 7cm high operator, with a joined guide rail and a safety sensor that serves as a fully integrated and compact technology.
The EMDF system operates a door of up to 230 KG/leaf, fulfilling the required international standards for the safety of the application.
For the manual swing wooden doors inside the building, the GEZE Concealed Door Closer was deemed the best choice to keep with the modern design whilst maintaining the same utility and safety features.
The GEZE Boxer, an embedded manual door-closing device, was also specified to optimise the doors within the hospital building, with the ability to control the doors mechanically with a hidden body and guide rail.
The buildings internal swing door is operated by the GEZE TS 5000 E-ISM: a surface mounted door closer with an integrated sequence mechanism enabling the door closures to control the double leaf doors and to have active and passive door leaves.
The door closer includes an electromechanical hold open; allowing the door to be held in an open position and close on any emergency signal.
In total, Al Jalila Childrens Speciality Hospital is fitted out with over 1,500 specialised products and drives from the GEZE
