Developed for large buildings, such as stadiums and theatres, Geofire’s Salamander fire door closers and holders offer a fire safety solution where acoustic units are unsuitable.
By legally holding open fire doors, access and ventilation within a building can be improved, whilst wear and tear of expensive doors can be prevented.
Unlike acoustically-triggered devices, Geofire’s Salamander products are activated by fire alarms alone; this makes them suitable for large buildings, heritage buildings and areas with asbestos, where it is essential that the building’s fabric is not disturbed.
The Salamander radio controlled devices have been designed with the benefits of hard-wired electromagnetic door retainers and closers, despite being wire-free.
The free-swing fire door closers and holders are battery operated; they can be wirelessly connected to a mains-power control unit, which can be wired into existing fire alarm systems to ensure that fire doors will close safely in an emergency.
The wireless devices, which have been approved to EN1155 and CE marked, can be installed quickly and cost-effectively, ensuring minimal disruption to a building’s occupants or fabric.
Suitable for Category A installations – which is the BS7273-4’s safest defined installation – the devices can be fitted in all areas of a building, including fire escape routes.
A single controller unit can manage up to 99 fire door closers or fire door holders.
