If a hole is cut in a wall to make way for a socket or switch box, the fire stopping capability of the wall is significantly reduced and heat loss and air leakage will occur in the wall cavity.
Fitting a Firecap Socket/Switch Insert however, provides a highly effective fire stopping seal which minimises heat and air loss, with the BS EN 1364-1:1999 products proven to offer two hours integrity and insulation.
The Inserts provide an effective acoustic barrier, are rot proof and maintenance free and can be used with metal, plastic single and double socket boxes in both 35mm and 47mm depths.
7000 Firecap Socket/Switch Inserts are currently being installed at the hospital to provide a cost effective and easy to install solution which replaces the need for expensive plasterboard lining or putty pads.
The hospital is being redeveloped as part of Northumbria Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust’s £200million investment to improve healthcare and provide a dedicated emergency service, with A&E consultants working 24 hours a day.
The Firecap Socket Switch inserts provide passive fire protection and are designed to reinstate flames, heat and noise at the hospital, which is due to officially open in 2015.
