The sign was created as part of the 200th anniversary of the Leeds and Liverpool Canal

The sign was created on behalf of Rosebank Community Garden and Village Green for the Leeds and Liverpool Canal, depicting a horse drawn canal barge similar to the narrow boats which were in use on the water 200 years ago.

Forming a historical focal point in an area of regenerated land that runs alongside the canal, which was completed in 1810, local residents turned out to view the new sign and celebrate the memorable occasion.

The galvanising work carried out by Manchester Galvanizing on the sign will protect it against rust and corrosion, allowing it to be enjoyed by visitors and locals in years to come.

Wedge Group Galvanizing is the largest hot-dip galvanising organisation in the UK, consisting of 14 national plants and dating back over 150 years.
