Geogrid specification complicated by two test methods

  • 6 Dec 2013

The CE mark legislation requirement was introduced in July to declare product performance characteristics and the pair state that it could be linked to a spate test that has been introduced for triangular or hexagonal grids.

Geogrids are now providing the same function of mechanical stabilisation through reinforcement even though tensile strength and strain properties are tested using two alternative methodologies.

Simon believes that a single test measuring the 360 degrees omni-directional strength of geogrids, as suggested by Nigel Wrigley, will make it easier to compare products.
