Once one of Weston-Super-Mare’s favourite tourist attractions, the Seaquarium, a building that sits on stilts on the seafront site, has seen an incredible transformation, featuring Kestrel Aluminium‘s Folding Sliding Doors.
It now features an ‘all day dining’ venue, the Revo Kitchen & Terrace Restaurant, and Revo Glo Golf, a UV themed 9-hole mini-golf complex.
This new seafront attraction has received glowing praise from customers for its alfresco dining with stunning views of the Grand Pier and coast beyond.
The 300-seater beach cafe and restaurant has been specified with high-quality floor to ceiling Kestrel Aluminium Folding Sliding Doors around the dining area that maximise the views and create a fresh, airy space that allows natural light to flood in.
The unique folding sliding door system enables the doors to fold flush against each other providing more space for tables and diners. A flush track for the doors offers ease of access and creates a cleaner and neater aesthetic that complements the restaurant’s contemporary interior design.
The seafront position means that the restaurant is often subject to severe atmospheric conditions. To ensure long-lasting protection and to help ensure a good lifespan for the doors, all the aluminium frames were Marine Grade anodised to thickness grade AA25. The doors are double glazed throughout, achieving a U-Value of 1.6W/m2K and have high-level PAS24 security with multipoint locking systems.
The main contractor for the project was AGM Services Ltd. Fabrication and installation of the folding sliding doors were undertaken by Tamworth based WD Group. Time was a crucial factor for the contractors with only a short turnaround period from the acceptance of the drawings to ordering materials, manufacture and installation.
As a result, they needed a partner that could supply a painted quality product on a short lead time, with the confidence that the time scale would be met and to the required standard and specification.
Kestrel Aluminium systems were specified knowing from previous project experience that the product would meet all expectations. Kestrel Aluminum worked closely with WD Group’s dedicated design team and project manager throughout to ensure design concepts and cost restraints were maintained and the project was successfully delivered on time.
Embedding sustainability within any organisation requires a broad, strategic perspective. Scrutiny should include the physical infrastructure itself: According to the IEA, buildings consume around 30% of global energy*. ASSA ABLOY has more…
