Brett Landscaping’s Lugano flag paving has been used to create a striking exterior to Southampton’s Royal Southern Yacht Club.
The club, which was founded in 1837, moved to the Hamble in the 1930s; since then, a contemporary club house has been erected on site.
The club’s multifunctional grounds feature an outdoor seating area, a walkway to the pontoons and a grand entrance to the club house itself.
As a chartered landscape architect, Influence Environment was contracted to improve the club house’s exterior. To create a clean and aesthetically impressive terrace area for future events, Brett Landscaping’s Lugano flag paving range was specified for installation.
Lugano was selected for its naturalistic aesthetics, as well as its robustness and sustainable features, which made it particularly suitable for the club’s coastal location.
Boasting a high level of slip resistance, the paving was also deemed appropriate for the club, which experiences a high level of pedestrian traffic.
Raymond Brown Construction fitted a combination of Silver Grey and Graphite Grey Lugano flag paving to cover the area, which spans 600 square metres. Silver Grey has been used as the principal shade to create a spacious feel; the darker Graphite Grey paving has been used to represent walkways.
