Material Handling Equipment fleet to be managed by Windsor

  • 12 Mar 2015

Windsor Material Handling has been contracted by Metsä Wood to manage and improve the efficiency of its MHE fleet

In its search for a material handling solution, Metsä Wood asked a number of suppliers and equipment manufacturers to come up with ways to improve the efficiency of its operation.

After considering its options, the company decided to enter a partnership with Windsor Material Handling.

Windsor, which operates from 11 branches across Britain, impressed Metsä with its dedication to offering additional safety and fleet management capabilities.

Under the contract, Windsor will deliver forklifts, side loaders and other machines across four production sites.

It has already started delivering a range of Doosan counterbalance trucks, Baumann side loaders, Nilfisk cleaning equipment and JCB Workmax site vehicles.

The deal will also see Windsor providing a maintenance service for the upkeep of the machines.

A more efficient MHE fleet

As part of Windsor’s proposal, the fleet will include GPS driver access and monitoring devices.

The company has upgraded seats, reduced vibration and noise levels and incorporated LED lights to enhance user experience.

Improved fuel economy and reduced emissions have also been included.

Additionally, Windsor has provided an online fleet management service to enable Metsä to monitor equipment usage and accidental damage.

By managing its fleet online, Metsä will also be able to keep itself up-to-date with access service records and costs.

The entire MHE fleet is expected to be replaced by summer 2015.
