The Metal Cladding and Roofing Manufacturers Association (MCRMA) has published a new Advice Note. This is entitled AN 08 The Building (Amendment) Regulations 2021 interim guidance.
This advice note intends to address certain ambiguities in the new Approved Document AD-L Volume 2 Buildings other than dwellings which MCRMA has identified in comparison with previous versions of the Approved Documents. The advice note offers interim comment until these issues receive clarification by the relevant regulators.
Important amendments to Building Regulations and Approved Document L Conservation of Energy for England were announced in December 2021. These come into effect in June 2022, with transition regulations in place until June 2023. The key amendments relate to external wall and roof constructions for relevant residential and institutional buildings.
Changes to the Building Regulations and other government regulations for the construction industry, which are currently under revision, are expected to impose and regulate better levels of quality control and performance by the design team, product manufacturers, main contractor and sub-contractors including sheeting and cladding installers.
The advice note is downloadable via the MCRMA website at https://mcrma.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2022/02/AN-08-Interim-guidance-on-Amendments-to-Bldg-Regs-24.02.22. pdf
