Opening up the potential of BIM with ASSA ABLOY

  • 18 Oct 2017

A BIM-enabled product specification tool from ASSA ABLOY UK Specification has enabled One Creative Environments Ltd to improve efficiencies and collaboration.

The integrated building design business has been working within a fully integrated BIM workflow to create a unified and collaborative approach to building design.

One has now integrated with ASSA ABLOY Openings Studio, helping streamline multi-disciplinary collaboration and information sharing, ensuring all stakeholders have real-time access to doors and ironmongery specification data, therefore providing compete door sets that can meet a project’s specific needs.

Jason Whittall RIBA, Director of One, explains: “With ASSA ABLOY Openings StudioTM, we have real-time control over door and ironmongery information. Once it’s been shared, other specialists can feedback on a project’s development and respond with updates and suggestions. From there we have full control over which information we utilise from the specialist, within our model.”

Tim Checketts, Specification Director, adds: “The tool enables specific BIM objects to be developed and auto-populated while a door schedule is being put together. Then, should a design need to be altered, the BIM model will update in real-time, responding to a project’s changing demands and requirements throughout the specification process.”
