Abloy UK has supplied a bespoke PROTEC2 CLIQ electromechanical security system for over 90 operational sites, owned by South Staffs Water (SSW).
SSW works to provide drinking water to around 1.3 million people, based in the North Worcestershire, West Midlands, North Warwickshire, South Staffordshire and South Derbyshire areas.
Its sites accommodate treatment works, reservoirs, pumping stations, water towers and boosters; all equipment is essential to its operation.
Abloy’s PROTEC2 CLIQ cylinder system was specified to provide comprehensive site security. The system’s patented disc controller structure requires each key to have a moving element, ensuring a high level of security.
PROTEC2 CLIQ also holds key and key blank patent protection to prevent unauthorised, duplicated keys from being used to breach the system. Different products can be keyed into the same master key system, ensuring that they can be operated with a single key.
Lincoln Security was contracted to carry out the installation of 600 padlocks, 300 user keys and almost 400 cylinders. Four desktop programmers were specified, in addition to 10 wall programming devices, which were placed at numerous SSW offices and depots to enable key holders to re-validate when required.
The PROTEC2 CLIQ system combines electronic access control and strong mechanical locks with web-managed and patented protected technology. It enables individuals that only need to access certain assets to hold a particular level of key; other employees can be granted a higher level where required.
