Based in Londons prime business location, 330 Holborn Gate has been closely associated with the legal profession for hundreds of years.
The glass-fronted office building, which is renowned as a landmark, has recently undergone a major refurbishment.
Space Air was asked to contribute to the renovation project; the company was specified to supply the installation of Daikins R22 replacement VRVQ air conditioning system.
As the supplier of the buildings original R22 based Daikin VRV systems, Space Air held comprehensive data on the first installation.
This information was used to specify the replacement air conditioning system designs.
As part of the project, the buildings entire 7th Floor was completely renovated; this allowed for the installation of Daikins slim ducted units.
Daikins VRVIII-Q systems were also fitted, improving the conditioned air distribution. The new layout enabled an increase in system capacity to 100kW, whilst using the existing pipework.
Although the client initially favoured a complete replacement system, Daikins VRVQ system works in conjunction with existing interconnecting pipework.
The system offers cost saving benefits, as well as operating efficiency and minimal occupant disruption.
Since the Daikin system were commissioned, the client has reported a £70,000 saving in energy consumption.
The rooftop VRVQ condensing units were replaced in the day to ensure that the occupants were not disrupted.
Meanwhile, the indoor work to replace the BS Boxes and fan coils was complete overnight. The work was planned carefully so that all activities were completed by 7:00am each morning.
Space Air provided full project management throughout the installation and commissioned the systems as they were completed: in total, 35 new VRVQ condensing units were installed.
The companys weekly installation supervision visits ensured that the correct procedures were being followed throughout each stage of installation.
