Chitterman House has been refurbished to create an updated, contemporary family home from a 19th century period property.
The large building now consists of two living areas, five bedrooms and five wet rooms, which all span across two floors. A gym, garage and games room have also been installed in the outbuildings as part of the refurbishment project.
The need to create an energy efficient, eco-friendly home was central to the design process.
With 8,500 square foot of living space to heat economically, the project required an underfloor heating system to satisfy the homeowners’ need for energy efficiency.
The Schlüter-BEKOTEC-THERM underfloor heating system was specified for the job and used throughout the project, installed in the outbuildings as well as the living areas, bedrooms and wet rooms.
To distribute heat quickly and evenly across a wide surface, Schlüter’s product has thin screed and runs at a low temperature.
The product also enables the homeowners to have individual heating control settings in each room.
Schlüter also supplied its other products to the development: its DITRA matting was installed under all of the property’s tiled and stone floors to prevent cracks from appearing around doorways and other areas of stress.
To offer both decoration and protection, the building’s tiles were refined using Schlüter®-SCHIENE threshold stainless steel strips and aluminium Schlüter®-QUADEC wall profiles.
Products from the Schlüter-WETROOM range were fitted in all of the building’s five wet rooms, whilst the terrace benefited from the installation of Schlüter-DILEX movement joints. Additionally, Schlüter-KERDI-BOARD was used for the project.
