Performance test at Gilberts manufacturing facility

Understanding performance test data for natural ventilation with Gilberts

  • 20 Nov 2015

According to a CIBSE webinar, performance test data provides essential information, which can be used to evaluate natural ventilation designs. Gilberts stresses that testing can prove whether a product will perform to specification.

The webinar – entitled ‘Understanding Performance Tests’ – has been designed to assist building services engineers with the extraction of appropriate information from performance test data.

It explains that British and European standard tests only apply to the performance criteria, such as the weatherability, acoustics and thermal properties of individual products.

As they do not address durability and suitability in particular circumstances, manufacturer performance tests are also necessary.

Performance test data

As a manufacturer, Gilberts has a rigorous testing and performance validation regime; by testing its natural ventilation systems, it is able to provide reassurance of reliability and longevity.

The company’s 400m3 test laboratory allows for accurate testing of air distribution grilles, diffusers and natural ventilation terminals. Gilberts aims to establish each product’s full aerodynamic performance, including throw, temperature, pressure and acoustic data.
