How robust are LST radiators?

  • 17 Apr 2019

Contour has specifically designed its LST radiators to be more durable against the passing traffic of schools and hospitals; vital in sectors where budgets are already tight.

LST radiators are made out of a 1.5mm Zintec mild steel as standard, giving them the strength to stay in shape and last longer in hectic locations where they are likely to take impacts from hospital beds or other equipment. Alternatively, we also offer LST radiators made from materials such as stainless steel or magnelis – a form of steel that has undergone an additional treatment stage similar to hot-dipped galvanising.

In mental health wards, magnelis is particularly beneficial as it ‘s 10x more resistant to rust which means that it can be installed into bathrooms and other spaces where condensation may be present. Magnelis also has “self-healing” properties that make it more durable in the long-term. Contour also offer 2mm aluminium LST radiators for areas where the demand for anti-ligature solutions isn’t a requirement.

Contour’s LST radiators are supplied as a one-piece construction, reducing the risk of screws or bolts coming loose which could affect the overall integrity of the LST.

Plus, Contour also designs its LST radiators with additional folds in the radiator guard to ensure extra strength and resistance to the hectic environments we install into. Its casings can also be supplied with additional strengthening struts for areas which are prone to high bed traffic such as hospital corridors.

For additional durability, Contour LST radiators use BioCote® antimicrobial technology in the powder coating to reduce bacteria on the radiator surface by 99.5%. This protects against illnesses and creates a more robust, product making school and hospital environments safe for all.

Contour LST radiators also come with a 5-year warranty for the additional peace of mind that, in the unlikely event that something goes wrong, Contour will be there to help.
