CUPA PIZARRAS launches new innovative rainscreen cladding concept

  • 11 Jul 2019

CUPA PIZARRAS has recently launched a new innovative rainscreen cladding concept, CUPACLAD® Design ARROW, for designing with natural slate.

CUPACLAD® Design ARROW combines natural slate with a zigzag pattern in order to provide a sense of movement.

It is the 8th concept designed by CUPA PIZARRAS to inspire architects to build with natural slate in an innovative and modern way.

ARROW stands out for its zigzag pattern, which fits both into horizontal and vertical buildings. This dynamic design uses rhomboid slate units to create a natural slate rainscreen cladding in zigzag. Each row of slates points at the opposite side of the façade, creating infinite arrows pointing to right and left.

As all CUPACLAD® systems, it is very light compared to other cladding solutions and it is extremely resistant and long-lasting thanks to the technical properties of natural slate. Plus, CUPACLAD® is a sustainable and efficient cladding alternative.

In terms of design, ARROW stands out for its modernity and freshness. The zigzag slate pattern enhances verticality in high buildings and dynamism in horizontal buildings.

For this design, the CUPACLAD® team opted for a simple slate format they had already used in other designs such as CUPACLAD® Design ASCENT or CUPACLAD® Design WAVE. However, in this new concept rhomboid slates are always placed horizontally, and they are not combined with any other formats.

CUPACLAD® Design ARROW is a clear example of how natural slate can offer countless benefits to modern architecture, in combination with other materials or by itself.
