Prater continues to soar at Manchester Airport

  • 11 Sep 2019

After successful work had been undertaken on Manchester Airport Pier One and Link Bridge, Prater has continued to prove its excellence in the aviation sector.

This comes courtesy of the company being appointed to deliver another complete envelope package to the airport’s new Terminal Two.

Expected to be completed in 2023, the £1 billion expansion of Manchester Airport should improve check-in speed, as well as the speed of security checks, increasing footfall from 27 million to 45 million over a 10 – 15 year programme period.

Prater’s work began in November 2017 to deliver a full envelope package for the Pier One and Link Bridge project – which included the design, supply and installation of the roofing, glazing, cladding and soffits.

Since then, the contract has been fulfilled and handed over to the end client, and now Prater has once again been appointed to deliver another full envelope package for the new Terminal Two building.

The scope of works currently underway includes the design, supply and installation of a standing seam roof, a blast enhanced façade, an acoustic façade, and composite cladding.

Chris Leach, Infrastructure Lead at Prater, commented: “We are thrilled to carry out further works on this flagship project.

“The Prater team has been working closely with Laing O’Rourke and the rest of the supply chain since the initial works began, and we’ve repeated our ethos of early collaboration for the Terminal Two element of the project.

“This ethos has allowed us to pre-plan and schedule works strategically, ensuring safety and quality on-site and avoiding costly project delays.

“It’s this detailed experience in the aviation sector and our successful work on thePier One and Link Bridge that enables us to provide quality and consistency to our clients, project after project.”
