Government funds GGF to help companies through Brexit

  • 24 Oct 2019

The Glass and Glazing Federation (GGF) is pleased to announce it has received Government funding of up to £50,000 to help companies in the glass, glazing and fenestration industries, through and beyond Brexit.

As the UK gets ready to leave the European Union, the government has issued £10.1m in grants to 124 business organisations to help them prepare the firms they represent for the UK’s scheduled departure from the European Union on 31 October.

Following a successful application to support the industry with technical support and information, the GGF was awarded £50,000 from the Business Readiness Fund, which was launched to support trade associations and other business organisations in helping firms prepare for Brexit.

The funding will include issuing GGF Members, FENSA and BFRC companies with an information brochure with key information across many of the areas that could be affected from the UK’s withdrawal from the European Union.

Steve Rice, GGF Managing Director, commented: “The Federation has been helping its Members and the wider industry prepare for the potential exit from the EU for many months with or without a deal.

“We are therefore delighted to receive this additional boost from the Government to ensure we make all companies in the industry aware of any changes that lie ahead from a technical and legislative perspective.”

Business secretary Andrea Leadsom said: “I’m delighted that this Fund has been able to support such a large and diverse wide range of business groups.

“The funding has to be used to support both members and non-members, so I urge all businesses to get in touch with organisations in their local area so they can take advantage of the support on offer.”

The GGF plans to use the funding in the next few weeks on areas such as technical consultancy, information leaflets, online content and awareness.

James Lee, GGF Director of External Affairs, commented: “The GGF communication channels and digital platforms are in place to deliver the essential content to companies throughout the industry.
