CMS recognised for long term Living Wage commitment

  • 2 Dec 2019

CMS Window Systems has been named a finalist in the 2019 Living Wage Scotland Awards in recognition of its long-term commitment to paying its workforce a sustainable wage.

The accolade in the ‘Anchor Institution’ category reflects the pioneering approach that CMS has adopted in being a Living Wage employer, ever since becoming only the 150th company in the whole of Scotland when it signed up in 2015.

At this time, CMS was also one of only a handful of window, door and curtain walling manufacturers and installers UK-wide to have adopted the Living Wage.

CMS – an Investors in People Gold and Investors in Young People Silver certified business – goes beyond the norm in respect of the Living Wage by paying this level to staff regardless of age. This is important in attracting younger workers to develop a career at CMS whilst providing them with a salary that enabled them to build their independent lives outside of work.

Making the finals in the 2019 Living Wage Scotland Awards represents another independent endorsement of the long term strategy of CMS to provide stable employment which is fairly rewarded and enables individuals to develop and thrive.

Paying the Living Wage is part of a much broader ‘people’ strategy at CMS based on fairness, equality, diversity and opportunity, which also includes a vast array of training and development opportunities, a unique Wellbeing Programme and the CMS Academy where modern apprenticeships are provided.

David Ritchie, CEO at CMS Window Systems comments on the achievement: “We are delighted to have reached the finals of the 2019 Living Wage Awards, and our congratulations go to all the organisations recognised. Next year will be the fifth year as a Living Wage employer, a long period that has enabled us to truly realise the benefits of this excellent initiative, and it is good to see so many organisations now following suit.”
