When it comes to waterproofing, there’s no room for error. Proper design and specification of waterproofing systems is vital to ensure quality and complete protection. That’s why Newton is integrating its waterproofing design service with the fundamentals of the RIBA Plan of Work, making it easier for architects to understand the processes involved and the services they will receive at each stage.
Newton supports specifiers with its leading technical services since the introduction of structural waterproofing solutions. Now, it offers a comprehensive service from initial consultations and design meetings through to site support and guaranteed installation by its nationwide network of approved contractors.
Available in the new Design Service brochure, the new Newton Plan of Work explains how Levels 4 and 5 of the Design Service cover every part of the RIBA Plan of Work, from Stage 0 – Strategic Definition through to Stage 7 – Use.
Whilst Levels 1 to 3 of the Design Service are free and can be undertaken at any point during the Plan of Work, the design liability always remains with the specifier. By contrast, Levels 4 and 5 require a design contract and a bespoke quotation, meaning Newton Waterproofing will take the design liability for the waterproofing aspect of the project.
The RIBA Plan of Work organises the process of briefing, designing, delivering, maintaining, operating, and using a building into eight stages.
Using this framework as guidance, Newton is able to explain the Design Service offering when we act as the waterproofing design specialist on a project, with bespoke specifications backed by our PI insurance, design liability, and optional A-rated, insurance-backed guarantees.
Warren Muschialli, Managing Director at Newton Waterproofing, comments: “Our expert design team are all Certificated Surveyors in Structural Waterproofing and thus are well versed in the intricacies of designing waterproofing systems and can provide meaningful support for any project. Now, with the added Plan of Work, it’s even easier for architects and specifiers to understand the varying levels of our design service and what we can offer.
“Whether you are an architect dealing with below-ground structures or a contractor working on a new-build commercial property, we can help. From full design service to installation advice, Newton Waterproofing is here to assist you throughout the entire project.”
