MASTER-SOFT textured glass recognised at Red Dot Design Awards

Saint-Gobain Glass’s MASTER-SOFT textured glass has been awarded the coveted Best-of-the-Best distinction at the Red Dot Design Awards.

The latest product in the SGG MASTERGLASS range, MASTER-SOFT takes its inspiration from luxury goods and furniture to create a matte, velvet effect with a structured, quilted pattern and fine grain.

The material features a soft and flexible surface, finely engraved and structured by two diagonals.

The effect reveals clearly drawn, small 3D patterns. This creates the desired result of obscuration as moving images and people are blurred, creating a novel graphic effect whilst offering adequate privacy.

Saint Gobain Glass invested in brand-new matrixes to print the glass to achieve the precision of the pattern.

MASTER-SOFT textured glass

SGG MASTER-SOFT has been developed to offer a new choice to architects and designers, as it is ideal for combining such elements as furniture with indoor and outdoor architectural elements, doors partitions, shower walls and bath screens, windows, balustrades, etc.

The glass is highly versatile: it can be toughened and curved, and the 8mm thick version can be used to design frameless glass items such as for showers and partitions. The product may also be lacquered to extend designs to include colour. 

MASTER-SOFT complies with the requirements of standard EN 572-5.

The internationally-recognised Red Dot Design Awards examine almost 5000 products, presented by companies from 56 countries. Prizes were awarded in 31 categories including ‘Materials and Surfaces’, in which SGG MASTER-SOFT was competing.
