Batimat 2015 – a wider perspective on industry trends

I will be at BATIMAT in November. This bi-annual show is a great place to see new innovations and get a wider perspective on industry trends. Batimat attracts over 350k visitors, including 32k architects from across the world. There are over 80k visitors from outside France including 60 international delegations .

I first started to go to Batimat 10 years ago, in the dying days of Interbuild in a time when the UK industry had lost its appetite for trade shows. I have always seen the value of exhibitions and was disappointed that we seemed unable to mount a substantial event.

Batimat visit was a revelation

Arriving at Batimat 2013

My first Batimat visit was a revelation. I headed out from London on Eurostar and the cost, including overnight stay in Paris, was cheaper than my rail travel & hotel near Interbuild at the NEC.

The size and facilities at the event was truly impressive. I was able to visit a number of major international construction product clients, many of which had, by then, given up on exhibiting at Interbuild. Many familiar companies will be at Batimat 2015 including BAUDER, FAKRO, FLIR SYSTEMS, FOAMGLAS, GEZE, KINGSPAN, ROCKWOOL, SCHUCO & WICONA and many will use the event to launch new products.

In the past decade Buildingtalk has supported the rise of Ecobuild and are right behind UK Construction Week which I believe will play a key role in the welcome renaissance of construction industry exhibitions in this country. These will also support the growing international impact of British architects, contractors and other professionals who are winning major projects overseas.

London was the star of the show at Batimat 2013

At the last Batimat, London featured as the exemplar metropolitan city, demonstrating how it was renewing itself for the 21st century. I listened to presentations from the successful Olympic build team as they outlined the legacy, plus all about Crossrail, HS1 & 2, and other major projects. I even managed to have an interesting conversation with Ken Livingston who was speaking at the event.

Innovation Awards at Batimat 2015

This year I am part of the judging team for the Innovation Awards which will form part of Batimat. For the first time, videos of nominated and winning products will be projected onto giant Innovation Towers in areas of each hall specifically dedicated to innovation.

From 2 to 6 November 2015, MONDIAL DU BåTIMENT will bring together 3 flagship trade shows under one roof at the Paris Nord Villepinte Exhibition Center, in Paris, France, with more than 2,600 French and international exhibitors

I would really encourage you to visit Batimat and maybe take the opportunity to visit Paris too!

Do be in touch if you plan to go, especially if you are involved in exhibiting. You can email me direct via [email protected] .
