Home with underground space built on former bombsite

For the last 16 years, Landmass has been developing properties in London’s prime areas. It has recently been working in Notting Hill, transforming a former bombsite into a four-bedroomed home on Ladbroke Grove.

As London’s Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea is reluctant to allow high rise buildings, Landmass has created a floor plan that utilises the site’s underground space.

From the outside, the property will look like a two-storey build. However, the 750 square foot site is being more than quadrupled in size to accommodate two spacious basement levels.

The property’s subterranean garden has been dropped to the lower ground floor, enabling residents to gain access to it through the open-plan kitchen.

In the basement, a gymnasium and a black-out media room are being built.

Landmass London designs its buildings with open spaces, high ceilings and minimal rooms to create more light. Like its other developments, 76 Ladbroke Grove has an open floor plan, with large living areas and a spacious master suite.

Landmass has aimed to further enhance the amount of light entering the new build by introducing as much glass into the design as possible.

The company makes a significant investment in creating bright and practical basement spaces as the value of these spaces can diminish if the basement is not functional.

76 Ladbroke Grove will be for sale upon its completion in May 2015. Landmass has set a Guide Price of £6 million for the property.

The company has designed and developed over 50 London properties over the last 16 years. One of its latest buildings has been short-listed for Best Residential Property 2014 after achieving a record selling price of £6.9 million.
