Accessible hygiene room provides future-proof solution for London college

  • 7 May 2015

Clos-o-Mat’s automatic wash dry toilet and height adjustable basin were included in Stanmore College’s new future-proof hygiene room

The College decided to improve its accessibility when a disabled student with specific hygiene requirements asked to enrol.

Although the site already accommodated several accessible toilets, they were all dated, conforming with the bare minimum of regulations.

Automatic wash and dry toilet

To solve this, a new hygiene room was supplied by Clos-o-Mat; it was installed on the ground floor of the College’s main reception building.

The facility boasts more space than a conventional wheelchair-accessible toilet.

Additional equipment, including a changing bench, hoist and height-adjustable washbasin, have been incorporated.

A Clos-o-Mat Palma Vita automatic wash and dry toilet has also been included to make the new facility future-proof and forward-thinking.

With a touch-sensitive operating switch, the innovative toilet has in-built douching and drying, eliminating the need for the use of toilet paper.

This feature has been developed to improve the independence of the user. It also ensures a consistently high level of cleanliness is maintained.

With its new hygiene room, the College hopes to encourage more young people to take advantage of its vocational and academic provision.
