  • 6 Mar 2015

Sika Sarnafil’s single ply and waterproofing membrane products were specified for their flexibility and durability

The ‘Walkie Talkie’ building, which has obtained a BREEAM ‘Excellent’ rating, combines 13,000 square feet of retail space with 680,000 square feet of offices overlooking London.

The top three floors of the 34-storey building accommodate a bar, restaurants, a large viewing deck and a Sky Garden.

The project’s contractors, Fenland Flat Roofing, were required to fit a lightweight walkable roof area for the access walkways and perimeter edges of the glazed roof.

The specified roofing product had to curve in two directions and provide access to the garden and restaurant.

Sika Sarnafil G410-12EL single ply was chosen for installation.

London’s new £200 million skyscraper was completed in August 2014

The product has been designed to resist weathering and UV contamination whilst offering strong weldability and versatility.

It was fitted to the BMU Track in the shade Lead Grey and covered with SarnaTred walkway tiles, which have been developed as a slip resistant solution for maintenance workers.

Sika Sarnafil also provided its Sarnafil G410-15EL Traffic White waterproofing membrane for the building’s Shoulder areas.
