Westerland products can be cut easily and installed quickly to offer an attractive natural slate that is manufactured to the highest European standards and is lightweight, pre-holed and suitable for a variety of projects.
WT Parker Ltd built the new headquarters and workshop facility after demolishing the existing building to make way for a more energy efficient office which includes solar panels.
Main contractor GF Tomlinson Ltd tasked WT Parker and Lyall and Lyall architects with specifying a slate that could be cut to accommodate solar panels.
Westerland fibre cement slates can be cut with hand tools, are available in a uniform size, thickness and shape and are pre-drilled to make the fixing of clips easy when carrying out work on site.
The slate is ideal for use in applications such as in Grade Listed buildings where a traditional appearance is crucial, providing a durable and economically friendly alternative to natural roofing materials.
Manufactured using Portland cement with a non-asbestos formulation of synthetic and cellulose fibres, Westerland slates are pigmented during production and are finished with a semi-matt acrylic coloured coating to the top face and edges and a binder to the back.
Westerland slates are available in 600x300m format, can be specified in one of three colours with a dressed edge and textured surface and are supplied alongside accessories including fibre cement undercloak and soffit strips.
