Glazing solution provides thermal and acoustic control

  • 23 Feb 2015

The replacement windows projects tasked Glassolutions with specifying a glazing solution that could provide thermal, solar and acoustic control

The One St Paul’s Courtyard replacement window projects saw the re-fenestration and renovation of The Co-operative Insurance’s offices and 23 rooms from the Grange St Paul’s Hotel.

Both clients required a glazing solution that balanced thermal and solar control.

Glassolutions specified its SGG Cool-Lite Xtreme 60/28 for the bespoke window system that was designed for the project by Euro Windows.

The company’s SGG Cool-Lite Xtreme 60/28 glass product enables a building to receive 60% of the sun’s natural light whilst reducing its heat gain by around 30%.

The glass, which has a U-value of 1.0 W/m2k, can reduce overheating in the summer as well as reducing heat loss in the winter.

With the buildings’ neighbour, St. Paul’s Cathedral, attracting around 5,000 visitors a day, it was also essential that acoustic control was provided.

To ensure that both clients’ noise insulation requirements were met, SGG Stadip laminated inner glass was sandwiched between the inner and outer glasses.

Overall, more than 600 square metres of the double glazed units were created for the new complex.
