Resin flooring solutions offer durability and strength in high traffic stadium

  • 24 Jun 2015

The SSE Hydro arena is a popular leisure complex with a 13,000 capacity. With thousands of revellers walking and dancing upon the venue’s surfaces, a robust flooring solution was required.

In total, 9,000 square metres of Flowcrete UK’s resin flooring solutions were fitted throughout the arena.

With the ability to withstand high traffic and the continued movement of large bodies of people, the flooring was specified for installation in the arena’s main bowl area and its VIP lounge rooms.

Designed to maintain an attractive finish, Flowcrete’s flooring solutions are both durable and easy to clean, making them suitable for installation in a busy stadium setting.

Crack-resistant

8,500 square metres of Flowcrete’s Flowfast Quartz were specified for installation in SSE Hydro arena’s main bowl area.

With the area’s stage and additional pieces of hefty equipment exerting enormous pressure on the floor coating, it was previously prone to cracking.

Flowcrete’s resin flooring was selected to enhance the stylish surroundings of SSE Hydro arena’s VIP lounge rooms

To avoid the creation of an inadequate floor finish, Flowcrete’s Flowfast range was targeted: with a fast cure methyl methacrylate (MMA) catalyst, Flowfast Quartz is able to speed up the rate of cure and prevent cracks.

Spotless surfaces

The arena’s VIP lounge rooms were fitted with a dark Mondéco Crystal floor.

A blend of mirrored and clear glass chippings were incorporated into the surface to create a shining underfoot effect.

The flooring was chosen to add a new visual dimension to the elegant environment; resistant to cracks, the black finish compliments the rooms’ luxurious aesthetic.
