Reporting carbon reduction targets to stakeholders is another important measure within BES 6001.

The Government’s ‘Code for Sustainable Homes’ is becoming more centred on reducing the carbon footprint of construction materials, not only the carbon footprint of the finished building. Concrete roof tiles have a lower embodied carbon than those of clay, representing less than 20 per cent of the weight of the tile composition; the remainder of the materials used in production are natural products.
