GGF raising Members concerns at main political party conferences

  • 29 Sep 2014

The reduction would bring glazing into parity with other carbon saving products, whilst the GGF is also supporting the wider campaign to cut the VAT on home improvement, repair and maintenance work.

The GGF has been raising its concerns about the wording of some parts of the Consumer Bill of Rights and is calling on appropriate professionals to re-word the document in order to avoid confusion for consumers whilst protecting company’s from potential ‘rogue customers.’

The Federation is working on a campaign to urge all those involved in fire safety, regulation, design and installation to advocate an integrate approach to fire measures as part of the manifesto for barriers containing glass to resist and contain fire and smoke.

Another significant subject for GGF Members who supply, manufacture and install conservatories is the restrictions for homeowners due to the change of ownership of private sewers.

The GGF has developed industry guidance which outlines best practice for installing conservatories or extensions in cases where building work is being carried out near to a sewer, and is campaigning for this code of conduct to be adopted by water companies.

The Federation is also lobbying for all of the main political parties to provide evidence and advice on how to encourage homeowners to sign up for the Green Deal and Energy Company Obligation schemes.

The party conference dates and venues are as follows:
• The Labour Party Conference – 21st to 24th September, Manchester
• The Conservative Party Conference – 28th September to 1st October, Birmingham
• The Liberal Democrat Party Conference – 4th – 8th October, Glasgow
