GGF addresses the issue of Universal Credit

  • 16 Jan 2015

Nigel Rees, GGF Group Executive, raised the issue of Universal Credit at the Roundtable Discussions in November 2014

Glazing and Glass Federation has been discussing Universal Credit and the benefits it brings to employers with the Department of Work and Pensions (DWP).

At the Roundtable Discussion in early November 2014, GGF Group Executive, Nigel Rees informed Lord Freud, Minister for Welfare Reform, that many companies are unaware of Universal Credit’s advantages.

Following this revelation, DWP has released two new developments, aiming to inform employers on Universal Credit. The Department hopes this will help them understand it and encourage them to take full advantage of its benefits.

Online Q&A guidance documents are being delevoped to help employers learn about Universal Credit. They will also be able to access the Universal Credit Partner Toolkit, which contains additional information.

With Universal Credit set to expand across the UK in 2015, an increasing number of business will come into contact with those on the new benefit. Thus, GGF believe it is important that the concept is well understood.
