Modern Carmelite monastery wins Architect’s Choice Award

Designed by Austin-Smith: Lord architects, the monastery has been built to minimise energy consumption with the introduction of natural ventilation and improved insulation using maximised daylight and solar water heating.

Over 200 registered architects and architectural students voted for the building which combined modern elements with traditional monastic design.

The Brick Awards showcases the achievement of brick projects in architecture, with entrees being made from around the world.
