Education sector building boom and Retrofit Roadshows begin
I will be at the Timber Expo show [24/25th Sept at NEC], not least because it is the best opportunity this year to see the latest timber technology and new wood products all in one visit plus visit useful seminars. If you have something new for me to see, do be in touch via news@buildingtalk.com and I’ll come and have a look.
I am also planning to visit one of the Retrofit Roadshows after good reports from the Liverpool event last week, the first of 12 shows nationwide the next being at Cardiff on 17th Sept. These are very good networking events plus you can keep-up with the growing retrofit market opportunities. For example, the low carbon economy in North West region alone is estimated to be worth £11.8bn and 1,250 jobs will need to be created to meet government homes retrofitting targets.
We have lots of new products in this week’s Buildingtalk, so check out the summaries for links to more details. And check-out a great energy and water saving portable building from Wernick Hire via our latest Video of the Week.
Buildingtalk Twittercalls for comments on the merits of A14 Toll Road by-pass; and the prospects of an education sector buildingboom.
And finally, when our old nuclear power stations were flogged-off to EDF at a knock-down price, the talk was of them building new ones. Now it looks like any new build is on hold. Call me suspicious but what is going on?
